Kris “KDot” Smith was born in Atlanta, raised in NY, and currently resides in New Jersey/Philadelphia. His musical inspiration comes from various entities: having a father who was a New York DJ in the 1970-90s, a mother who was an avid vinyl and CD collector and befriending the best DJs in the NJ/Philly area.

His first introduction into the DJ culture was in 2010 when he enrolled in Rutgers University-Camden. While on campus, he was tasked with hiring DJs for campus events. Through his search on and off campus, he was able to connect with DJ’s of different styles and formats from the Greater Philadelphia area. Eventually, he decided to practice on DJ equipment of friends and colleagues he had met through the years. A few DJ’s that he would practice in front of told him that he had a great ear for music and should dive into the culture—taking the craft more seriously.

In 2018, he purchased used and cost-efficient equipment to practice in his home. After 3 months of intense practice and a connection through a fellow DJ, KDot was booked to DJ in one of Philadelphia’s premier lounges. Fast forward to present day, he has found great success in DJ’ng as he has been booked domestically and internationally for various types of events.

KDot is an open-format DJ specializing in many different genres such as top 40 pop, house, hip-hop, freestyle, r&b, oldies, Latin music and many more. This gives him the ability to DJ an array of occasions such as weddings, birthday parties for adults and children, sweet 16’s, nightlife or any other event that is asked of him.
